Frank Sawkins founded the company "Czech & Speake" in 1978, which produces not only fine "Bathroom Accessories" but also "Aromatics", which today are among the finest the market has to offer. Frank Sawkins studied art at Hornsey College of Art and design at the London College of Furniture. He quickly made a name for himself as an interior designer and worked for many large, internationally renowned companies from 1971 onwards. Shirley Brody, who started at Penhaligon's in 1977 and joined Czech & Speake in 1979 after gaining her "Certificate of Perfumers", was responsible for the "Aromatics". Czech & Speake uses only essential oils, resins and aromatic ingredients - the most valuable available on the world market. The production of the fragrances has since been relocated to Italy for cost reasons, but this has not taken away the English character of the fragrances. Czech & Speake's fragrances are particularly unique and complex, which may not appeal to everyone, but to which more and more aficionados are falling for. Czech & Speake impressively demonstrates how the art of English fragrances can be reinterpreted in a new and traditional way.
