The success story of D. R. Harris began around 1790 in London's St. James Street, when Harris' Apothecary was founded by the owners Henry Harris, a surgeon, and Daniel Rotely, a former pharmaceutical chemist.

His initials can be found in the name of D. R. Harris today.
