The Floris London's Elite Eau de Toilette is a complex fragrance with enduring appeal and British character that is both fresh and woody.

Soft woody notes of patchouli and vetiver are enlivened by a cool citrus twist of bergamot, grapefruit and lemon. This interplay is skillfully underscored by the green, resinous notes of cedar leaf and spicy juniper berries.

Lavender and fir balsam with a hint of laurel shape the character of the heart note. Mossy notes take a leading role, while the fragrance is rounded off with amber, musk and a hint of leather in the base to create a timeless bouquet.

Elite, created by Michael Bodenham in 1979, is a favorite of the Floris family. Named after the "Lotion Elite" - a Floris aftershave that first appeared in the catalog in 1851. Initially a slow success in the Floris range, Elite shows that patience in the art of perfume creation really does pay off.

With some loyal followers, Elite has grown in popularity over the years, especially in the 1980s as exports to Europe increased. Today, Elite is an icon in the Floris Signature Collection and has gained a loyal following worldwide, especially in Italy, where the fragrance remains extremely popular 40 years after its launch.

Juan Famenias Floris came to England in 1730 from his native island of Menorca via Montepellier in France, where he had learned to mix fragrance essences, and settled in Jermyn Street, near the Royal Court of St. James and in the heart of gentleman's "club land" as a "barber" and "comb maker", where he soon became the talk of London society with his products and was successful. He created individual fragrances for his customers and carefully stored the recipes so that he could resupply them when needed. He married Elizabeth Hodgkiss, with whom he had seven children.

Today, the company is run by the eighth generation, John Bodenham and Christopher Marsh, who are both great-great-grandchildren of Mary Anne Floris, herself a great-granddaughter of Juan, the founder. Mary Anne Floris had married James Bodenham, hence the change of surname. The company has been awarded the title of Purveyor to the Court over sixteen times and is now "Perfumers to HM The Queen Elizabeth II" and "Manufacturers of Toilet Preparations to HRH The Prince of Wales".
